Hans Zimmer has been collaborating with BMW since 2019 as the official composer and curator for BMW IconicSounds Electric. He announced this partnership in Santa Monica and has since developed unique sounds for BMW's electric vehicles, including the e-sound for the BMW Vision M NEXT. Additionally, the start/stop sound for electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles that he created entered series production in 2020.

Hans Zimmer created the 'Sound of Color' NFT series, which was auctioned by Phillips from July 20-23, 2021. This series features a collaboration with contemporary artist ThankYouX, combining Zimmer's original musical compositions with ThankYouX's abstract cube imagery. Hans Zimmer collaborated with BMW to compose the score for 'The Calm,' a BMW Films production that premiered at the 76th Cannes Film Festival. This project featured the fully electric BMW i7 M70 xDrive and starred Pom Klementieff and Uma Thurman.
